Diane's PIP query

i am married to disabled man who at 49 was fit healthy active ,who had a accident which crushed his left leg he is 60 now and having to reapply for pip I can see how this has effected his life can I has a wife submit a letter to say how it affect his life as my husband is a proud man and feels ashamed about his disabilities

It is always difficult to accept limitations, especially when you have been fit and active. Claiming PIP is a positve thing, a way for your husband to look a how things have changed and to see what he can do and what he needs help with. As a proud man, it is very easy to not accept limitations, I still think that I am 25 years young, I don't know the old geezer with a stick in the mirror. So help your husband fill out the form accurately as he is, not as he sees him self. You will both have to be strong as the process can be taxing, the system is not perfect but he is entitled to the help he needs and only you and he knows best what that is. It is especially important to get it right now when approaching pension age as only PIP awards made before pension age can be carried over into retirement.
