Nat Ins Credits ESA entitlement but not in payment was created by Lindsey
Hi. I am in the support group for Income Related ESA and I know I receive National Insurance Credits whilst it is in payment. If I move in with my boyfriend I will not be entitled to ESA payment as he works full time earning a reasonable salary. I will still be unable to work and my only income will be enhanced PIP for mobility and care so I won't be able to afford voluntary contributions of approx £14 per week. I have read that even if ESA is not in payment I am still entitled to N.I. Credits. How do I ensure my ESA claim is kept open for N.I. Credits only? I don't trust what ESA or JobCentre helpline staff tell me on the telephone as I have had such dreadful experiences with them in the past. I cannot find any definite info on how to go about this and it is worrying me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

As long as you maintain your claim then you should receive NI Credits, this means responding to any new reassessment as is necessary.
