Hi Gordon I'm asking this on behalf of my friend who can't afford to go on line. She was sent a letter back in November 2016 telling her she was 'fit for work'. Then in January this year the DWP sent her another letter demanding she pay back the money she'd been given while on Assessment Rate. Can they do this and is it legal? Or are they just trying it on? Cheers, Pen.

There's really not enough information to offer advice I would recommend that you friend gets face to face advice, do an internet search for "welfare advice" with their postcode, town or county.
