I have been claiming ESA for several years. 4 years ago I was placed in the support group after mandatory reconsideration. My renewal came up last Oct. I included letters in support of my claim, and to remain in support group, from both my GP and specialist OT. Today I received an appt for a medical assessment, which I cannot attend as, as in addition to my usual disabilities, I have a fractured spine. I cannot sit for more than a few minutes at a time without considerable pain. I rang my GP to ask if she would fax a letter explaining why I cannot travel. Much to my amazement she was going to phone me anyway as they have sent her a medical questionnaire which arrived yesterday. She asked me lots of questions concerning my mobility problems etc etc. She couldn't understand why they had already asked me to attend a medical assessment whilst also asking her for further information. Is this normal?
