.. the keeping of a dog. Is it really the case that benefits have been denied if you keep one? I can well understand the DWP becoming highly suspicious of a claim involving being unable to walk and the keeping of an Alsatian if it belongs to a single person making that claim. I couldn't however believe there could be any suspicion attached to that same person living with a family with that pet being tended to by others. I would imagine you could keep a small dog and not be able walk without issue if there was a door with garden for it to wander in and out by itself.

There can be assumptions made, the best way to deal with them is to pre-empt them in your claim form.

This is one of the problems I am having to deal with. If you do not actually walk your dog yourself, I would be careful about what you say about having one.
