Hi, I read about Severe Disability Premium and people who get PIP being entitled to claim for it, but I'm unclear who is entitled to it or is likely to be awarded it. I seem to have heard little about it and my support worker didn't mention it.
There are three sets of criteria that you will need to meet.
The first is that you are receiving or entitled to receive an Income Related benefit such as ESA(IR), Income Support, Pension Credit, Universal Credit does not have an equivalent to the Severe Disability Premium..
Secondly you need to be receiving an enabling benefit such DLA MRC or HRC, Attendance Allowance or PIP Daily Living.
Lastly you need to meet the eligibility criteria. You need to live alone or be considered to be living alone and no one must be receiving Carers Allowance for you.
If you meet all of these then contact the office dealing with your Income Related benefit and ask for an IS10 form.
If your are receiving ESA(CB) and think that you may qualify for an ESA(IR) top-up then you must first ask for an ESA3 form to see if you qualify for the top-up.
