sent forms away to apply after geting renewal form from dla just got a text today saying they have received it .how long before i hear and will it be by text first .?

There is now a significant delay in assessment waiting time, at best you are looking 10-12 weeks and could easily be longer.
Appointments have to be notified in writing, I would not expect you to receive a text message.
