Hi so I had my ESA medical on Thursday. I only started claiming in April so haven't been on benefits for long I am only 20 and haven't worked due to my social anxiety. I just want to be prepared as I know they don't "pass" many people on these assessments. When I got there I went with my aunty who is a mental health support worker. She walked in first and started to talk for me but was interrupted and was told they had to hear it from me. I am terrible at speaking to strangers so was just giving yes no answers or nodding or shaking my head. I didn't look at him much as he intimidated me. Assessment only lasted like 10 minutes don't know if this is a good sign or bad. How long do you normally wait for their decision? And what is the process if you don't agree with it? Thanks
It doesn't sound positive but assessors are allowed to stop the interview if they are satisfied that the claimant meets the criteria for the ESA Support Group so this may be what happened.
ESA Decisions are taking about 2-4 weeks at the moment.
If you are unsuccessful then come back to the forum and we will explain your options for challenging the Decision.
