Support Group and NI Payments was created by Jacqui Dayan
Hi Guys.
I was recently self employed.Claimed ESA but only NI credits as was told not paid enough NI last tax year to qualify for benefit. After my medical (and several phonecalls because of an 8 week wait) I have been told I have been put into the support group. Does this mean I will now be paid?

Kind regards
Jacqui

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If you are not entitled to Contributory ESA, I'm afraid the only way you will be paid any benefit is if your income/assets (and that of any partner) are low enough to entitle you to Income Related ESA. In addition, your partner (if you have one) must not work more than 24 hours per week.

Asset rule for ESA(IR)

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

If your financial situation has not been assessed, and you think you might be entitled to income-related ESA , you should contact DWP and ask them to send you an ESA3.

If you have further questions about your ESA, please reply to this message and we will do our best to help. You will find it easily in future if you favourite/bookmark it on your web browser now :)
