I'm 64 next month and I have received a letter asking if I want to receive IR ESA or pension credit, I got awarded ESA in 2016 . If I decide to accept their offer of swapping to pension credit I take it there will be no more assessments ....is that correct ?

That is correct, there are no assessments for Pension Credit. I would put your information into one of the online benefit calculators to see what you will receive so that your decision is as informed as possible.
