Just received the form for the ESA capability for work assessment.
The last time I completed the form I included a letter from my doctor. When the decision was made I was informed that I would be remaining in the support group and would not have to attend a medical. I believe the doctor's letter helped me to receive that favourable decision.
I have tried to obtain an appointment with my doctor today to discuss him writing a letter for me to include with the returned form. I was told he was on paternity leave. The receptionist asked what the appointment was for and seemed reluctant to give me an appointment with another doctor. I told her there was a deadline date for the return of the form - 4 weeks from today. Every appointment she gave me was weeks ahead - just days before the deadline date. I persevered and was told that a doctor would telephone me sometime today - and if he/she thought it important enough - would arrange an appointment to see me.
As a patient, surely I am in my rights to request a letter to support my assessment? Can I request an extension of the date for the return of the form - if I have more trouble obtaining an appointment?
