ESA payment reduced was created by trainingisgood
I wonder if you are able to help. My ESA income related payment was £486.50 every two weeks. It has now been reduced to £216 now and I did not get any explaination. My husband is on my claim and we were getting an extra £91.85 (because of his age) per week but this has now been stopped because I told the DWP that my husband is now receiving his state pension. Is the state pension classed as a benefit?
Another question please. I am awaiting documents from the DWP regarding mortgage interest payment which will now become a loan. On my award letter February 2017 it states that I have a deduction of £120 per week for housing costs i.e. the mortgage payment If the new mortgage payment will soon be classed as a loan will I get the £120 reduction returned to me because of the new DWP loan in place. I apologise for the length of this email. Kind regards and thank you for all your help in 2017.

Your ESA is calculated on the basis of the total amount of money that Government believes that you need, your husband's pension is counted as part of this income and your ESA has been correspondingly reduced.
The housing money is paid solely only in regard to your mortgage, so when you switch to the loan it will be removed from your ESA.
