When is medical evidence considered too old? was created by Chlorinated
I'm about to submit my esa form. I will be submitting recent evidence within the last two years however i have better strongly worded letters which are 2.6 years old. Is that too old or would you still advise submitting it? thanks

Hello Amonia,
Only you can make the decision, but if the older evidence supports the information provided on your ESA50 then its not likely to do any harm including it

Hi Izzy
You didnt answer my question, kind of. The letter in question aside, do assessors have some sort of guidelines which suggest they are recommended to consider evidences within the past 2 years or anything like that? I do remember when I had a previous esa assessment long ago an assessor didnt take my letters because she said it was too old. thanks.

Those assessing you should consider all of the evidence sent in but they are entitled to view older information and in particular evidence that is more than two years old with less weight. The key issue is whether you conditions are accepted as ones that would not improve, if this is the case then older evidence should be looked at with reasonable weight. If your conditions are liable to change then you will need to explain in detail why the older evidence is still relevant to your conditions as they are now.

Hi, I submitted medical evidence for my esa form covering 30 yrs! ( I requested my medical records from gp and paid £50). Most of it older than two years. Then sent every consultat or test report relevant to the questions on the application form.
I was put in support group for max amount of time and also get higher dla.
Just started change from dla to pip, and definately going to send in any med reports that are relevant, however old. Good luck.

I have sent in a doctor's letter from 33 years ago giving my daughter's diagnosis of Down's Syndrome. Since this is genetic and incurable I consider they should simply accept this as evidence and so far they have... Only things they have asked is extra evidence of current mobility.
So I think it depends on the circumstances.
