Need a bit of advice please. I am in receipt of ESA income related in the support group. Also been in receipt of DLA middle care, now transferred to PIP enhanced daily care. I have also had the severe disability premium added to my weekly ESA payment for some time now. A friend has recently applied for carers allowance and Universal credit as they are helping me a lot. They are now getting carers allowance with some universal credit paid monthly. I was led to believe that as a result of the award of carers allowance to my friend that my payment of the severe disability premium would stop. However, my ESA payment went into the bank this week and it is still the same amount, ie i am still getting the severe disability premium paid to me. Could this be because my friend is getting universal credit? Or have the DWP made an error in still paying me the SDP? Many thanks if you can help.
ESA is paid fortnightly in arrears so it is possible that the SDP has been paid because of this but I would still check with the DWP to make sure that they are aware that you are no longer entitled.
As an aside, are you receiving the Enhanced Disability Premium, also know as the Disability Income Guarantee, you Enhanced Daily Living award enables this.
