Request For Passport Submission was created by Roger
After lodging my initial PIP claim by phone on 19th February, I have today received a letter asking me to send in my passport for proof of identification.
Would anyone know if this is standard practice and how long it may take for me to get it back?
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

It is definitely unusual but I have seen it before.
As an alternative, make an appointment at your local JC+ office, they can scan the passport and any other information required and then email it to the required department.
If you do send the passport then I would use a tracked post, you should receive it back in about two weeks.,

Thanks Gordon.
I called the PIP Helpline : They checked my claim and confirmed they had requested I send in my passport.
I'll send it in the Post Registered, which is easier for me than going to a Job Centre.
For your information, they said they could only start progressing my claim once the proof of ID is confirmed, and would hope to have in backto me "in a couple of weeks", which I suppose may add to the length of the process.
Thanks for the support.
