I got wrong how many points I was awarded at MR, seems it's actually 12. This obviously still leaves me short of points (the the MR notice makes it very unclear!). So I'm still appealing. I just wondered if its acceptable to phone up the tribunal people and ask how long the backlog is and if they could estimate when I may possibly have a date?

Yes, it's fine to do this, there should be a number to call on the letter accepting your appeal.
