Appointee role at PIP F2F? was created by bobmunk
Hello,
Can anyone offer information regarding an appointees role at a PIP assessment?
My son has Autism and I have a few reports, SLT CAF EHCP EP, stating that he has communication problems. My wife is his appointee, will she be able to speak on his behalf?
Thanks,
Paul

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

It will be down to the assessor on the day but the DWP guidance is for appointees to be allowed to speak on behalf of the claimant especially if the claimant lacks insight into their conditions.

Hello ...I am my son's appointee,he has huge anxiety/ asd so does not make any conversation but at his f2f I spoke on his behalf when it was clear he wouldn't / didn't go into detail ..i explained to her very briefly when I answered the door and during the appt I just sort of raised my hand to show I had something to add, rather than speaking over or instead of my son ..it was absolutely fine and completely accepted.
