PIP - N0 acknowledgement of receipt of form was created by TwistedWitch
I sent my DLA to PIP paperwork in to the DWP at the end of August. Perversely they gave me a due by date of 28th August which was the Sunday before the recent Bank Hol Monday, so I sent it special delivery to be delivered on the Friday 24th Aug. I checked with RM tracking and it was signed for at 4.39AM. Have to admit I was shocked that there was anyone at the DWP at that time of the morning. Anyhow, sorry rambling here. I am wondering if I should be panicking that I have not received any acknowledgment from them that they have received my form. I am pretty sure that when I did ESA and also DLA I received letters from them saying they had got my paperwork and would be in touch. I realise that there was a Bank Holiday in between but isn't 12 days a rather long time to not have confirmation that they received it? I am terrified of sticking my head above the parapet and phoning them in case they try to spring a F2F Assessment on me at short notice on the phone, but am I almost as scared to just ignore that I have heard nothing in case next month my money just stops and then I have a fight on my hands proving I sent the paperwork in. As I said I do have the Special Delivery receipt and I did download the signature from RM. In the experience of the mods do they normally take this long to acknowledge receipt, and if they had not received it (or rather would like to allege they haven't) would they contact me to say so or just stop paying me? I know that in any event I would get a month after my claim ends, and I just received DLA today, but I am wondering if I should just see if it arrives this time next month or what to do.

The DWP won't acknowledge the receipt of your form unless they have your mobile number in which case you should have received a text from them. If you are concerned then contact the DWP office dealing with your claim, the address and phone number will be on the letter that accompanied the PIP2.

It is not the DWP that do the assessments so you are not risking being asked to attend a F2F although it is quite likely that you will be asked to attend one.

Thank you Gordon. Last time I applied for DLA and also for ESA I definitely received an acknowledgment of receipt so they must have changed that. That's fine, I am not going to worry if they don't bother to acknowledge now. I realise I will most likely have to have the F2F but am dreading it, as I am sure does everyone in a similar position.

I do have another question. I have been scanning the forum and see that there seems to be an agreement that an award of x years means that in reality you will be asked to go through all this hell actually a year earlier than your award date! Does this also apply to ESA, or is this just peculiar to PIP.

I can't honestly see the point in giving you a three year award if they are going to call you back after two years, why not just give you a two year award? But then nothing the DWP does makes sense to me.

ESA is an indefinite award with planned reassessment, the reassessment date held on the DWP computer systems is the date that the process will be initiated, however, as there is no award length the DWP can reassess an ESA claim at any time after three months have elapsed from the previous Decision.

Hi Twisted Witch,
I also sent my PIP form around the same time, also signed for at an unearthly hour,. I did give my mobile number but didn’t get an acknowledgement. I phoned DWP after 5 days, who confirmed receipt and they offered the info that it had gone to a DM to see if I needed a ftf. I understand from Gordon that it’s the Assessors who do that part, so must be a slip of the tongue about the DM. I’m still waiting

Thank you to both Gordon and bin it.

My ESA was for three years, so hopefully I will get the full 3 years before the re-assessment kicks in again. However, if they do award me any PIP, and I am highly doubtful they will and were to give me three years, with this 2 year re-assessment thingy that would make the ESA and PIP reviews take place in the same 4-6 months period. I honestly think that would finish me off!
