Hi guys wondering if you can give me a little bit of information on what I need to request from my GP to start the whole process. I am moving over from DLA to Pip the process will start on October the 14th when I phone, I have quite a lot of letters from my consultants etc so my question is what should I ask my GP for when I start the process for claiming Pip, should it be as much information as you can provide or should it just be a general description of my condition. Generalized dystonia is not a common condition and my GP is not that up on it so should I ask him just for a general description and how my life is affected buy my disability.
The first question to ask is whether they are going to support you in the first place, many GPs take the view that those assessing you will write to them if they need information, the reality is very different, see
Nest, if they are prepared to help, what are they willing to provide? If they are stuck for a format then there is a GP Notes document in the PIP area, they can either complete it as relevant or use it as a template for their own response.
