How long to make a decision for PIP? was created by fastmoggy
Hi,
How long does it take nowadays for the DWP to reach a decision to award, OR take away your pip entitlement?
Wife did the AR1 first week June , got a face to face first week August and a letter first week September saying they all the information to decide ect ect.

In the last 10 years the decision usually comes within 3 weeks of a F2F , So... Is this a normal wait time now due to changes to the benefit system to Universal credit clogging up the system or should we be worried at the length of time we have so far had to wait for a decision?

It should take 2-4 weeks but there are delays throughout the PIP process and members are currently reporting wait times of up to 12 weeks from the date of the assessment.

Fastmoggy, my actual letter took 12 weeks 3 days from the assessment. The process started at the end of March, I wasn’t seen until mid July. I phoned up regularly to see what was happening and know they are very behind. They did send me a copy of my assessment very quickly (I asked for it on a Monday, it Came on the Thursday!) and the decision maker basically copied and pasted the assessors comments, going completely with her suggested points

fastmoggy - I was lucky. I had mine back in four weeks from the assessment. This was back in July this year. Hope you don't have to wait too long.

My son had his face to face assessment for his PIP review on July 23rd and still hasn't received a decision after nearly 13 weeks. The DWP response is " we have no idea when you might receive it".

Jill, when I phoned they very helpfully put me through to a caseworker who checked my file to ensure there was nothing needed that was holding things up. I had my assessment on 18th July so nopefully your son will get his decision soon. Incidentally I phoned on Monday in week 12 and the letter didn’t come until almost a week later so that would have made me over 13 weeks too. Definitely worth phoning them again and make sure you have a copy of the assessment as they sent mine very quickly. Good luck
