Hi there I've received my assessors report on my transfer from a lifetime dla award to pip now I had enhanced on both before ,now I got standard care and enhanced mobility i will be doing a Mr for the care ,but the award length is 2 years which means a 1 year award in reality now on reading the dwp own guidelines on award lengths of states that this award should only be given if a improvement can be reasonably expected in that time frame ,well as my osteoporosis wedge fractures of which there are nine and my ostepenia and osteo arthritis fibro will never get better or improve can I appeal the award length?? And if so do I do this in my written mr?? Thanks in advance.
Award lengths are based on the possibility of the claimant's conditions changing, this doesn't just mean improving it also covers a deterioration!
The award length is part of the Decision and can, therefore, be challenged at MR or appeal but will need to provide convincing evidence that a longer award is justified, this is primarily a medical decision and the DM has no medical training.
