Hi, only two months ago I got a letter from DWP saying that following a recent change my support group ESA would continue. The only recent change they were aware of was my PIP award in August which had increased from enhanced rate daily living/standard rate mobility to enhanced rate care and mobility. Today I received a capability for work questionnaire which must be returned by 21 December. I phoned DWP just now and they said they need to know if my condition has changed? I explained that it hadn't changed in two months since they told me my ESA would continue. I am stressed and confused.
ESA letters are always badly worded and often misleading. The letter you received a couple of months ago would have just been about your payments, not your award.
You must complete this ESA50 to continue to receive your ESA, treat it as a new claim and complete the form in detail supplying evidence as you can, even if it has been submitted before.
Although there have been no recent changes to the ESA Descriptors, the advice given by the DWP has been updated so make sure you use our current ESA Claim guides to help you complete the form.
