Can anyone please advise the format of a home assessment, I had been awarded PIP until Nov 19 but now am having a home assessment. Can you please advise if the assessor is here to inspect my home, ie check the bathroom to see if I have grab rails at the toilet, bath seat, shower stool and if they will be checking my kitchen to see that I am using my perching stool and trolley etc. Will they also be able to ask me to get up and show them how slowly I walk, or if I have to demonstrate how I manage the stairs. Capita will be doing the assessment. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.
Home assessments are not significantly different from those held in the Assessment Provider's offices, our PIP Claim guide has sections on this and the questions you are likely to be asked.
The assessor is a visitor in your home and has no more right to look around than anybody else who comes to see you, although in reality, it would be very unusual for them to ask.
There may be a short and simply examination, range of movement, grip and possibly a short walking test.
