I'm 66 years of age, I filled in the form from the DWP about a possible refund, when i changed from Invalidity Benefit to ESA.
I've received a letter from the DWP, stating that, we have reviewed your case and you are not entitled to ESA(R) from 10/08/2011. As a result there is no change to your benefit.
Your Contribution based ESA exceeded the Income related ESA.
So the way that this is worked out is that the DWP calculate what you would be entitled to receive if you were eligible for ESA(IR), from this they deduct any income that you are receiving, this includes your ESA(CB) and then they see if the ESA(IR) is more than the ESA(CB) if is then the difference is paid as an ESA(IR) top-up, if it isn't then the ESA(CB) is paid as it already is.
Obviously, your income exceeds the extra amount of ESA(IR) hat you would receive.
