Stuck on question 14 , Moving Around was created by weymouth321
I am unable to walk over 20 metres, repeatedly, because of pain, fatigue and breathlessness , symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. A walking aid ( stick, crutches, ), does not help because of the above symptoms of RA. Same for wheelchair. I always walk with a limp, due to constant pain in my Right Hip, symptom of RA. Does one have to cover all scenarios , like supermarket plus length of time in supermarket ( 30 ) mins max, as really struggle and always have to stop and sit down on s/m floor, ( even outside on ground when no wall or bench ), mainly due to fatigue and breathlessness for 4-5 minutes before using shelving as support to get up - plus always use shopping trolley as “ an aid “, support by resting my forearms on trolley as lessen pain and fatigue .Use self serve as not able to stand in que, so sit on floor while using cash til . Does this count ? Carry bags to car over my forearms. ( recently been awarded Blue Badge ). Does this count ? Does “ Moving Around “ require how one gets up and down stairs and moving around kitchen. ( I spend 80% daily lead on sofa due to fatigue)
Is this enough ? What have I missed out ? Many Thanks, J.

Be aware, 20m is actually a very short distance, claimants who can only walk this distance would be expected to have problems moving around in their house and would not be expected to be able to walk around a supermarket where individual aisles might be longer than 20m.

You must be able unable to walk the 20m reliably on the majority of days, so this includes your walking speed and any stops that you have to make.

Using the trolley for support won't help as the use of aids is included in the Descriptor. Carrying or not carrying bags is not considered nor are any problems you have with the stairs.

A Blue Badge may help but the distance considered for a BB is usually further than the 20m so it won't be a given.

Many Thanks for bringing my attention to this Gordon , going to change to C. ( can stand and move unaided more than 20 metres, but no more than 50 metres ), including having to stop and rest , due to fatigue, pain and breathlessness. As this is more accurate, but struggle to stand on one spot more than one minute ; have to move or sit down, Is this enough to award me any points ?
Many Thanks Again , J.
