GMS error. How do I fix? was created by Robinson_jon
Hi all
I’ve been having an issue with DWP calling myself and my wife in for compliance meetings regarding a job that I’ve never worked for. The compliance officer at our JCP accepts that it is an error but doesn’t know how to rectify it.
My wife is on ESA and claims our SDP. I am on CB ESA.
My wife was called in just before Christmas as the General Matching Service had brought up that I was working for Nissan in Sunderland, despite never even visiting the place. The marker came from HMRC. I contacted HMRC in December to tell them this wasn’t correct, and the compliance officer wrote to Nissan who confirmed that I didn’t work for them. The marker was ‘open ended’ with no finish date, meaning it’s possible a recruitment agency have put me down as working there (or made a mistake).
Fast forward to last month and this time I got the invite. I contacted the lady at my local JCP who stated it was the same issue, but now that I had reminded her of my wife’ meeting she would cancel my interview, however she said that this would continue to happen.
I have a personal HMRC tax account and nothing regarding Nissan has ever appeared on my tax/NI information for the last financial year or this one.
How can I rectify this? The compliance meeting letter is always dreaded and I really don’t want to have to go through the stress of another invite!
Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

A couple of things to try;
First, write to the DWP asking for the erroneous data to be deleted from your file, I would send a copy to your MP as well, you should mention the stress and anxiety that these investigations are having on you.
I would also contact the Information Commissioners Office for advice on how to officially have this data removed, just do an internet search for the ICO.
