My wife has been on ESA Support Group since 2013. Her ESA50 was sent back to DWP on 11 Feb, which was also the date our son was born.
We haven’t heard anything regarding an assessment or award, and highlighted changes to medication and conditions as a result of pregnancy.
Is there anything specific in the regulations or case managers’ guidance regarding ESA assessments around birth? Are they delayed, or are we just in a queue?
There are considerable delays in the ESA assessment process at the moment, it could be 4-6 weeks or as long as 4-6 months depending on where you live. There are no provisions in the ESA legislation that take pregnancy into account for the assessment process.
