PIP - Assessment requests was created by earwigs
Hi, I'm just filling in the last of my PIP form. I wonder if they pay any attention to requests in the box for face to face assessment? I have ME, and will need to be driven and in a wheelchair, but I also would be unable to make any appointment before 2pm. I'm a bit concerned that they could ignore this, and so I'll have to rearrange the appointment. When rearranging, do people get offered a range of appointments over places and times?

Many thanks for your help.

The simple answer is that if you don't include the information then they cannot consider it. They may ignore it or more likely miss that it is there but if you do need to rearrange you can argue that it should be at no fault to you as you have informed them in writing of your restrictions.

If you re-book on the phone then it should be possible to arrange a mutually agreeable date and location.

HI Gordon, Thanks so much for your wise advice! Will document all my restrictions... and here's to wishful thinking that I won't need to get called to an assessment :)

Hi Gordon
Well, looks like they chose to ignore my request, and have sent me an appointment too early in the day. You mentioned arguing that it should be at no fault to me. Should I try to make this point to Independent Assessment Services, or direct to the DWP? And have you any idea how I should go about this?

I am happy to phone just to rearrange my appointment to a convenient time, but am worried in case I have to cancel the final appointment for any unforseen reason.

Many thanks!

At this time you need to contact IAS, tell then that you included information on your availability on or with the PIP2 and that they have booked an appointment on a date/time that you clearly identified you would not be available for so they need to re-arrange the current date at no fault to you.

I would write a short letter to send to IAS with this in as well and copy it to the DWP office dealing with your claim.
