scrapping PIP reviews for pensioners advice please

I am currently receiving DLA and had a form about making a new claim for PIP. I am 66 years old, but am still eligible for PIP because I was under pension age when the rolled it out.
I've read that the government have now scrapped reassessments and opt for 'soft reviews' for pensioners as of the 31st May, but they knew it was on the horizon as early as March.
I got a letter in early May to start my application for PIP and the form is due back next week.
I am wondering if this new rule means that they should just transfer me over without me filling in the new PIP form, or does this new rule only apply once I am on actually assessed on PIP? TIA

A lot of people seem to have misunderstood this announcement.

It has nothing to do with claimants being invited to claim PIP, this is defined in legislation and would require it to be amended to change who is invited and how they are moved.

The announcement was in regard to what award would be made on a new claim for PIP.

So if an award is made and the reassessment date is after you would reach State Retirement Age then it should be extended to an On-Going award.
