New pip claim from DLA was created by michaeln2
Hello, i have just started filling in the PIP2 form for my wife (who is registered blind since 2005) & have hit a stumbling block almost straight away.

Question 3a preparing food..... Do you use an aid or appliance to prepare or cook a simple meal? "Yes, No or Sometimes."
As i do all the food preparation & cooking, i am not sure of which one to select. If i select "Yes" would this give the impression that she does ,or is involved with, this activity herself?

I have filled in lots of benefit forms on her behalf over the last 21 years....but these,i find, are the most confusing. Maybe i am just getting older & more confused.

Hi Michaeln2

If your wife never prepares any food then it follows that she does not use any aids and therefore the answer to the question is 'no' and in the box or on an additional sheet you make it clear that you do all the preparing and cooking of food because of her sight and/or any other medical condition.

You can double check the meaning here
What does ‘aid or appliance’ mean for personal independence payment (PIP)?

If you haven't already - do look at our guide on filling in the PIP form.
