Pip face to face home visit, was created by Teresa
Morning all, looking for some advice,
I returned my PIP review form & my ESA forms back to DWP over the Xmas period, capita contacted me to say they was doing a home visit in May but they failed to show up, my CARER rang they to try to get explanation, but got nothing, they sent me another home visit June 4th, at 8am, I was still in my pyjamas,s hadn’t even had time to get any breakfast or medication, I was so stressed, not been sleeping properly since I got the forms in Nov, I was exhausted, & In pain, I struggle with mobility, & have sjrogrens which affects my eyes,
I had another 4 letters from consultants/ clinics I have seen since sending my evidence in Dec
I asked the assessor if he wanted the letters he said he wasn’t allowed to take anything off me,
He went through a series of questions that I feel wasn’t relevant to the point system, never asked how far I could walk, then he asked me to read some letters & words off a card, I told him I couldn’t read it because my eyes was hurting & everything was blurry he basically called me a liar & grabbed his bag and marched out the house,
I received a text this morning saying that they have Received the report & I will be hearing from them within 6 weeks,
Is this normal for a claim to be processed so fast after waiting over 6 months to hear from them & also should I call them & ask if I should send the rest of my evidence,
I feel after his outburst at my home that he has failed my claim,
Any info or help on where I need to go regards my claim
Thankyou,

Hi Teresa

I'm sorry that you had a poor experience with the assessor. Of course if you want to you to make a complaint you can do. It's not clear from what you say whether your assessment was for PIP or ESA.

The assessors generally will not take any additional information from the date in which you sent in the information. The questions asked can vary depending on your condition and information/and or evidence you supplied. They do not always ask about the distance you can walk.

If your assessment was for PIP, then you can ring and ask for a copy of the medical assessment or you can request it after you have received the decision.

Until you have received the decision there is nothing else for you to do. If as you suspect and it does not go in your favour, then you can put in for a mandatory reconsideration.

This one was for my PIP, I haven’t heard anything regards the ESA form I sent in at Christmas apart a letter to say that the rates was going up in April & that I am in the support group, I assume that it’s the yearly generated letter that everyone gets cause there is no start or end date on it, I asked the guy if I could have a copy of the assesment & he said I would need to wait till I Received there decision, then I would have to put it in writing,
can I request it before there letter comes, I’m totally clueless what to do, I had help from the McMillan with my last claim, but they don’t have the funding to do forms any more
If my PIP is declined what do I need to do for a mandatory reconsideration,
as I feel I need to be prepared, & gather what ever paperwork I may need the last six months has made my conditions worse & it has been hell for me as I feel my life is on hold, I’m at the hospital 2-3 times every week, no healthy person would choose to spend there valuable hours there let alone a Cancer patient with multiple other medical conditions, I just can’t believe that the guy that came to my house called me a liar.
I’m a very proud person & my home is small but it’s clean & tidy ish why do they judge people by how they look, cause they can’t see pain, they don’t know me from Adam yet he felt he could be rude to me, if it had been anyone else I would of given him a earful but these people have our lives in there hands, sorry for rant
Thanks

Hi Teresa

You can read all about how to put in a mandatory reconsideration from the link below. You will need a copy of your assessment report and see what points you agree or disagree with.

You should be able to request a copy of the report now, just phone or write to the DWP office managing your claim, there should be no problem with them providing a copy, it normally takes 7-10 days to arrive.

You cannot start the formal MR process until you get your decision letter.
