ESA.and free prescriptions was created by Mrs Flute
Hello,

I claimed ESA last year when my occupational sick pay ran out but I was medically retired from work and now receive my occupational pension.

I informed the DWP who recalculated my ESA award from £111 per week to £0.00. I was aware that this would happen.

I am getting my NI credits via this zero ESA award.

My question is - do I qualify for free prescriptions, and if so, how do I claim it?

Many thanks
Mrs Flute

I'm afraid you do not qualify automatically and are unlikely to qualify by review.

You would need to be receiving Income Related ESA but your pension does not allow this, you might qualify due to low income, see

www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/help-nhs-prescription-...ee-nhs-prescriptions

You could purchase a Prescription Prepayment Certificate, depending on how many you have a year it could significantly reduce the cost.

That has answered my question perfectly.

Thank you for the.link - will start filling the form out.

I’ve had a PPC before - will renew when the old one expires.

Many thanks
