ESA sudden assessments was created by j112009
Hello I have just read on another platform that people are being called for sudden out of the blue ESA assessments and not being sent an ESA50 form to complete before the appointment. They state that one person was told they didn't need a form and they would do the assessment from scratch. That the person should just take any evidence with them on the day and they didn't need a form (ESA50). This sounds very alarming as you wouldn't have time to gather evidence from GP, CPN etc and not be able to go into detail about your illness on the ESA50 therefore likely to be found fit. Have you heard about anyone experiencing this? It has scared me very much as I am overdue and doubt very much that I would pass for reassessment to ESA without the ESA50 going in first with evidence. P;ease advise. Thankyou

There have always been a few ESA claimants asked to attend an assessment without an ESA50 being issued, there is no legal requirement for one to be sent to the claimant.

It is most certainly not the norm and it is not a change in policy.

Claimants invited to a face to face without an ESA50 being issued can download and complete one and take it to the interview, or write a letter in the same format as the form. I would also send a copy to the DWP office dealing with the claim.

Some members keep a completed version of the form on their computer and update it regularly so that they are ready for when they are reassessed.
