New Claimant was created by Gareth
Hi sorry if this is a repeat of previous posts but I couldn't see a search box to enter my query.

I was diagnosed with a life limiting lung disease the 8th June 2019, I am already disabled, I have never claimed benefits and never thought I would need to. My employer sacked me the week after my diagnosis after 7 months in the job so no protection under employment law, this in itself was a big shock on top of the diagnosis, I am in the process of making him squeal so I don't need help with this.

I need help because I went to JC+ (hope that is right) and they have put me in the support group and I am claiming UC, I have asked about the disability side of the claim but although it is stated on my online account that I am disabled and unable to work and also a carer it isn't telling me anything about payments and the only thing that has been mentioned is a payment of £327 on the 31st July which seems low to me.

I have been sent PIP forms throught which finally arrived last week dated the 10th July, before this was a letter telling me that I had to complete and return the forms or my claim would be cancelled, really efficient, I contacted them to point out I hadn't received the forms which they then confirmed were sent the 10th July, doesn't bode well.

Anyway any help with this would be great as I don't have a clue and I don't want to waith months for them to tell me I should have applied for something I haven't like ESA. Thanks in advance.
Gareth.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

The LCWRA Element (Support Group is an ESA term) is payable in the first period following your completing three pay periods since you presented your first Fit Note, best guess would be September.

Our PIP Claim guide will help you complete the form you have received, see

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

Put your information into one of the online benefit calculators to see if there is anything else you would be eligible for;

www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

If you have any more questions then please try and reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
