Asking for extra time to complete the form was created by ostia
Hello
Do you know how soon you need to ask for a time extension if it becomes apparent that you will not complete and send it in by the deadline please? I have a week before the deadline and am still waiting for letters to be sent in to me and also am only half way through the form and struggling due to CFS/ME, GAD, Ptsd and other issues including neurological. I can only focus for a few hours a day.
May I leave the call to two days before due date so the DWP cannot try to force me to finish by the deadline (I can't) ?
If they refuse to give an extension, what can I do? When I made my call to the DWP to start my claim they read out a list of mental health conditions but not mine but I was so stressed and confused on the phone it must have been clear there was a problem. What if they say my conditions were not on their list? I do have conditions which affect memory and concentration/
Thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Ostia
You can ring now and ask for a two-week extension and they will add two weeks to the date you have already been given or you can leave it until a couple of days before. They will not refuse to give you an extension. A lot of people ask for one and you don't have to even give a reason why you need one - other than you need more time.

Thanks. Guess what I was trying to get up courage to call them and then a letter arrived saying they had granted me 2 weeks more....and that I could also ask for more time if I needed it.
Very helpful but wonder if this is normal? I do have complex problems.

You must be flagged as vulnerable on the DWP systems.

How do you ask to be put on vulnerable list?

You don't, this is a decision made by the DWP.
