ESA was created by tinkerbelle
I have received today 1/8/2019 an ESA50...
Last year on the 1/8/18 I received an ESA51 duly filled it out and I then received an appointment for a face to face assessment with a health care professional on the 2/10/2018.
On the 30/10/18 I received a letter informing me that following a recent change and a decision on my capability to work I was being placed in the Support Group and my benefit payments continued.
On the letter there was no date given when the benefit would end.
Am I been given this form to fill because I am now 61 and is this to be an annual event?
I have M.E there has been no improvement nor will there be in the future.
Any advice please as I am really upset at the thought of having to go through this all over again.
Thanks

Hi H B Black

Your ESA does not have an end date, but you can be reviewed at any time. This can be after a year or two years or three years. (You do occasionally hear of some people going longer). Just because they are reviewing after a year it does not necessarily mean you will be assessed annually. I am afraid you have to fill in the form. Fill it in as fully as you can. Even if things are unchanged do put an explanation rather than just writing 'as before'.

Our guide can help you

Hi there,

Just to say I was last assessed at a face-to-face early 2015. I rang esa early last year and was told something about 'the nurse had looked at my file and decided to put any assessment off until after December 2019' whatever that means.

I plan to ring them in a couple of months time to see if it's put off any longer - hopefully until 2022 and I'll be retired by then.

Any thoughts on that, BIS - especially the explanation I was given when I rang them?

Phrank.

The DWP have been unofficially deferring ESA reassessments for years, looks like yours has.,

I was just surprised that having had a F2F with a doctor at the assessment centre and not hearing from them until the 30th of October 2018 with the result... It has only been 8 months since their decision. Thankfully I retained copies of the last form and all the info I took with me to the assessment...I just wondered if it was because of my turning 60 last year but I do not get my state pension until I am 66.

Thanks for the reply, Gordon,

Don't worry, though: I'm not taking anything for granted. I printed off a full copy off of the ESA50 form at the library last week and am currently slowly filling it in.

That way if they do send me a reassessment form, I can just copy off the 'dummy' one I'm filling in.

Just one thing: is the ESA50 form A4 size or smaller, it's just the one I printed off is A4?

Thanks,

Phrank.
