Unable to make Assessment Date was created by SarahAnne1311
Hi everyone,
First time posting here.
I've had my letter confirming an assessment date after completing forms about 2 weeks ago....
The issue I have is that I cannot make the date due to going on holiday. This has been booked for over a year so I am completely at a loss as to what to tell them because I know even if I am disabled I am entitled to a holiday but I don't want anything to go against me.
It's with Capita, does anyone have any advice please.
I know I have to tell them asap I cant make it but I'm in a blind panic as to what to say.
Thanks in advance
Sarah

Hi S
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
You need to ring Capita and tell them you need to cancel that date. Everyone is allowed to cancel one assessment date. However, be aware that if you cancel a second, your papers will be returned to the DWP and you run the risk of your claim being closed. I suggest when you ring to cancel you make them aware of any dates that you will not be available - including all of the time you are away (in case they offer you a second one before you're back) and any hospital appointments etc. You don't have to panic about what you say - you don't have to give a reason for canceling, but as you have said you are entitled to go on holiday and plenty of people do.
Whether or not you are given a new date over the phone, keep a record of your conversation and follow it up in writing and send to Capita and the DWP so it on your records. Always better to be on the safe side.
