Hello,

Just got the ESA50 through the door, i was put into the support group 14 months ago. They really have chose the best time to send this! Currently going through so much right now.

Also i will be due a PIP review in the next 2 months also, have they tried to send both at a similar time on purpose do you think?

This site really helped me when i had to fill in the form last year and am very grateful, Any quick tips you can fire at me? I will ofcourse go through your help guides again at some point.

Also how do i go about requesting a home visit for the assessment? Strangely last year was the first time i had filled in a ESA50 and they put me into the support group without an assessment. But doubt they will do that again.

Many Thanks

Hi Tinker

I'm afraid it isn't the DWP out to get you! A lot of people find their PIP and ESA reviews happen at a similar time.

If you require a home visit you need a letter from your GP backing up your request which says a visit to an assessment centre would cause you physical and /or mental distress and be detrimental to you well-being.

In terms of your ESA - I hope you kept a copy of your form and you can fill in similar information. Although you may be tempted to tick unchanged for every question - even if you do - you should also write an explanation.

Do have a look at the guides.

I managed to get a letter off my GP requesting i have a home visit for the assessment. I cannot find the option to put it on here so i will copy it.

Can you let me know if you think this is ok?

"I understand my patient is due to have a review of his disability. I can confirm that he continues to suffer significant symptoms of Anxiety, depression and agoraphobia. Lately he has also been experiencing respiratory symptoms which are being investigated for COPD and asthma. Also he has been symptomatic of long term chest conditions.

He continues under the supervision of the mental health team and is currently receiving occupational therapy to help him cope with day to day challenges, including traveling outside of his home.

Current medication :

Venlafaxine 75 mg in morning, x 2 75 mg in evening
Pregabalin 200 mg x 2 daily
Olanzapine 10 mg at night
Mirtazapine 30 mg at night

I would again request that he be considered for a home visit for his welfare assessment. I believe he would greatly struggle to be able to attend an appointment at another site of than his home. Currently his occupational therapist is also working with him at his own home."

Hi Tinker765

Yes, It's a great letter. Let's hope they actually take notice of it. There is no guarantee, but this at least gives you a chance and is informative about your current difficulties.
