Hello, can anyone help me. My wife has osteo arthritis and is being transferred from dla to pip. She is waiting for her pip assessment date, she uses a wheelchair and experiences great pain when moving/standing and sitting. My question is this: during the pip assessment, if my wife is unable to perform any physical task she is asked to do, or even get out of the wheelchair can the assessor insist , or refuse to continue with the assessment. Thank you in advance.
Your wife should not do anything physical that would cause her pain. If the assessor for instant asks her to stand up, she can politely refuse and explain that it would cause her too much pain to do so - and then would make it even more difficult for her to answer questions! The assessor will not stop an assessment because of someone making a polite refusal.
