DLA to PIP was created by Julie60
Filling the dreaded form in just now. I have a condition that has left me with server dizziness & balance problems. The episodes can last for over an hour at a time for about 3 plus times a day.
Can they disallow it because it maybe only 3 to 4 hours per day. I have no warning when t can happen

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

it will depend on which activities it has an impact on.
The legal test is the majority of days,
For most activities being unable to complete the activity at some point in the day should be taken as being unable to complete it for the whole day, where you will potentially have problems is those activities that can be done at any time during the day, so washing and bathing would be expected to be done after you get up but preparing and cooking a meal could be done at any time.

Gordon thank you for replying so soon. I am unable to cook for safety reasons, or take showers or baths etc on my own. Consultant told me this years ago.

You will need to show that your condition(s) has not improved since then and you have not been able to adapt to it either. Don't forget that PIP considers suitable aids or the assistance of another person, so as an example; would a perching stool overcome the dizziness when cooking?

My balance is really bad, stool would be no good for me. I have burn marks to prove it.
Husband does all the cooking. I know they are looking at not awarding you points.
I have a copy of the report from the doctor they sent out on my original claim to dla. He stated then I will require someone during the day.

You need to cover all of the bases, don't assume that those assessing you will connect the dots, for example; you need to explain why you are unable to use a perching stool or there is every chance that they will assume that you can.
