PIP Home assessment was created by wing
I have just received a letter from DWP saying a health professional will be visiting me at home next week. I only sent the forms in two weeks ago and did not ask for a home visit.

Firstly, does anybody know if this is unusual and if I ask them for a different date will they give it to me over the phone or will I have to wait for a letter?

IT's not normal but also not unusual, the Assessment Provider (not the DWP) have obviously decided that you would have issues attending at their offices.

The assessors who do home assessments are usually pretty busy so I would not be surprised if they have to send you a new appointment rather than being able to make one on the phone.

Be aware, if you cancel the current appointment then you will have to be available for any new one or your risk your file being returned to the DWP and your claim being closed.

Thank you for your reply.

They stated they would visit me at home. Will they visit me at the address they have sent the letter to as I am using that address at the DWP suggestion as a “correspondence” address as I was not getting my post at home.

Could I ask them for an assessment at one of their centres and are they likely to change it?

If you stay with the home assessment then I would definitely confirm the address.

Yes, you can opt to be assessed at their offices but it will still count as your one opportunity to rearrange the appointment so make sure you agree a date and venue while you are on the phone.
