DLA to PIP was created by Sallyb
Hi
I'm really struggling with my mh at the moment, big time.
The DWP received all my evidence and completed PIP form about how my disability affects me, on 21 October.
I've not heard anything at all , not even an acknowledgement that they received it (I know about the date of receipt because it was signed for).
When will they make contact? Is this silence good news or bad news? I can't use the phone so can't call them. But in the meantime, I'm constantly in a state of panic. I can't sleep, I'm bingeing on foods that are dangerous for me (I'm diabetic), and my suicidal ideation is having a field day. I can't tell my doctors as they will consider sectioning me and I don't want that.
I thought they had to respond within 28 days.

Hi Sallyb

There is a backlog in logging claims once they have been received, I spoke to a lady at the DWP last week who was very helpful and allowed another extension. It usually takes between 2-4 weeks to hear about whether a face to face is required, but it is in some cases taking longer due to the volumn of work. Do you have someone who can contact the Assessment Provider on your behalf for an update?

It is good practice to keep your doctor informed on how you feel, as you never know the DWP may contact them.

Hi Esme999

Some areas are struggling more than others and it will be dependent on the availability of assessors, but we only have anecdotal evidence on this and can't say specific areas are behind.

It's got worse, my husband (a pensioner), has just opened a letter from Carers Allowance saying that his carers allowance will terminate on 14 December as my DLA award ends on that date.

I still haven't heard anything from the PIP people, does this mean they have just stopped me and don't think I deserve any help?

I'm in a state now, feeling shaky and sick.....

Sally

It could be but we have also seen the DWP notify the Carers Unit that the DLA was ending but fail to notify or at least be delayed in notifying them that a PIP award had been made, prompting this letter.

I would ring the DWP to find out what the Decision is.
