PIP Home assessment - can i refuse was created by dwpidiots
My husband has a PIP medical in December but he has been given a home visit and would prefer to go to a centre? We have nothing to hide but i think you relax more at home and it is harder to remember they are not your friend!
He has a complex spinal injury so even though we didn't request one I wonders if that is why they allocated a home one.
I have MS so stressed as know I will have to go through this soon as I am still on DLA!

Hi Airheadange

You do not have to accept the home visit you have been allocated, but be aware that if you refuse this first date you will have to accept the second, whenever or wherever it is.

It is entirely up to your husband if he prefers to go to a centre - just be aware that many claimants with mobility issues believe they are disadvantaged by the assessors when they go to a centre because of the travel, possible walking from a car park into an assessment centre, and then from the reception into a room. That gives the assessor plenty of examples about movement and gives them the opportunity to draw conclusions that they cannot come to in your own home.

The friendly nature of some assessors is the same in the home as the centres and some members feel they have been caught out by the kind nature of some of them wherever the assessment has taken place. (Of course, some of the assessors are genuinely nice and professional)
