PIP Points for communication was created by Andrew58
Hi All
Hope someone can help. I remember reading in a thread that you could score points for communication even though HP says you spoke to them at assessment It explained that although you do talk at a medical it does mean you could do the same in social situations. Asking for a relative who has Asd and struggles socially but needs a family member to attend all doctors appointments with him to help and support him. He scored no points for communicating yet this is one of the main problems with Asd. He was stimming and emotional during assessment asking when it’s going to finish Yet zero points for this section.
If someone could please help me find the thread I’m looking for would be grateful

Hi Andrew58

We have a very substantial guide on the PIP process and it will walk you through every step.

You can either download it - it is very large (93 pages)
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

or you can read each section of the same guide online in separate parts.
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claim...pip/pip-claims-guide

Look at Q9, lots of information on communication which should be helpful.

Andrew

The Communicating activity is about the claimant's ability to speak and hear, it does not look at this in the context of a social situation, this comes under the Mixing with Other People activity.

So, based on your post I would not expect your relative to have scored for Communicating.

Did they score for Mixing with Others?
