Thanks becky - yes i think it is ok for him to continue to do the supported voluntary work he is doing.
And the centre for adults with autism that he attends seemed to think this was a brilliant result for him - that he can try things out at his own pace without the job centre placing demands on him.
So im fine with that.
It is just, when i look at the list of descriptors that qualify someone to go into that group, it seems to be aimed at those with severe levels of disability. And i just dont think he fits that.
As i am his appointee, i am responsible in filling out the application form accurately. Which i did. I just cant understand why he has been put into that group without a f2f.
They said they had enough evidence to make a decision. But the evidence was mainly my application form plus 2 8yr old reports.
Hopefully the report i have asked for will shed some light!

Hello, I have read Anisty's message and have found it useful. I am new to Benefits and work and relatively new to claiming UC. I began claiming this benefit February'19 after my husband had to go into a care home because of the consequences of a long history of drink and drug addiction. Up until this time, I had been his carer for about 10 years (sorry about this being so long winded!)I was a registered nurse for 34 years and was diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder in 1997 by a psychiatrist (attributed to childhood trauma). I continued to work for the next 12 years, but found it increasingly more difficult to cope. Last year, I was applying for jobs at my local hospital as I thought it was the right thing to do. It became increasingly more anxiety provoking. Ended up going to my GP who gave me a sick note. I think that on the back of this and a psych report, UC decided I need not continue to look for work for a time. Last week they messaged me saying that I needed to complete a fitness to work questionnaire, which the very next day arrived in the post. When I contacted UC, I received 3 conflicting answers as to what to do. I am VERY anxious about this. Any advice or help with filling out the form would be gratefully received. Shirley

Hi Shirley. I had to fill in the 'fitness to work' questionnaire myself last summer following a diagnosis of MS and finding myself unable to work due to disability. After reading through the benefits and work guide I filled in the form myself . UC wrote to my GP and I was shortly thereafter placed into the 'Limited capability for work related activity' grouping without even having to attend a face to face assessment which was a huge relief.
Read the guide on here and take time to think through your answers before you write them on the form. I wrote out a rough draft first on scrap paper and tweaked it where necessary.
