Tribunals was created by Mark410
Hi everyone am a new member and looking for advice I feel the dwp made it impossible for me to attend my tribunal as it was set for somewhere in Bradford and I live in Pontefract I sent them a letter explaining why I couldn't make the tribunal but they just awarded me standard rate for both for pip when the charity was helping me was shocked how they scored me I had a home assessment for my pip all she asked me to do was stand up and ask a few questions what made it really hard was she was Spanish and I couldn't understand and the question she was asking me I suffer with incontinence problems and explain this in a letter and asked for a different tribunal closer to home but I didn't get any response other than my reward letter I'm currently gathering medical records to reapply for my pip is there any advice I could get so they don't send me so far away for a tribunal as as I won't make it there due to my bladder issues and my chronic back pain due to an accident at work I can hardly walk and use sticks this is how my life on benefits began

Hi Mark410
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
I suspect there are a limited number of places where tribunals are held. It's impossible to know whether they received your letter or read it and just decided to make the decision without you being there.
I'm not clear whether you are trying to appeal to the upper tribunal (which you can only do if you can show there was an error in law) or you are accepting the award for however long it is, or you are starting the process from scratch.
If you are starting from scratch then the tribunal is not an issue. If you are going for another tribunal you may have to opt for a paper-based decision (which is what happened this time). I do know of one person who did not attend, but the tribunal chair spoke to them. You would need to talk to the Tribunal Services about this.
Do have a look at our comprehensive guide if you need it on applying for PIP www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
or you can look at the individual sections online
