ESA recording was created by asifa78
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I recieved a esa review form.
I filled it out and requested that I wish my assesment to be recorded. I also stated that should no recording equipment be available I could use my own recording equipment. I recieved an appointment 2 weeks later. I emailed maximus to confirm the assesment would be recorded. 2 days later they cancelled the assessment saying they would contact me again for another appointment. I asked why they cancelled they said they didnt have recording equipment on the day the appointment would be. I wrote a complaint that why distress people and get them worked up at having an appointment only for it to be cancelled over the lack of recording facilities. I stated that because I had requested it on the form that should count as a request for it to be recorded , so they should of sent an appointment when the equipment was available. The Manager replied that I have to request it to the centre of health and disability. Isnt the form sent to the centre of health and disability? I'm confused. Also they said I can not use 2 cassete recorders as one could fail to.work. Also the equipment has to have dual recording facilities. Is this true. Sorry for the long ramble I hope you can understand what I'm saying I know my writing can get confusing and erratic

Hi apple78

I am not aware of any difference between ESA and PIP assessment. For PIP, it is the claimant’s responsibility to record the session if they want it done. We have had many members on this forum who have informed that they have recorded the assessment, it may be that the assessors own recording equipment may have dual recording facilities.

You do need permission in advance from the Assessment Provider.

It needs to be made to two tapes or CDs simultaneously.

You cannot use a digital recorder such as a mobile phone.

A member has reported problems if the media is not new, so make sure that the tapes or CDs are still shrink-wrapped and opened in the presence of the assessor.

You need to give one of the recordings to the assessor at the end of the assessment.

Most members have used two relatively cheap cassette recorders, check that they record without a problem, some have used external microphones.

In regards to your other query about your ESA review form, it should be sent to Maximus but whether they read everything that is written on the form is another question. It is always advisible to phone and check if you are unsure of anything if you can get through.

Thankyou Gary for your prompt response. That's exactly what I did on my pip assement. I had new cassete recorder x 2 and 2 new blank tapes that were opened in front of the assessor. The manager that I complained to at maximus for the esa said it would have to be a dual recorder and that my 2 tape recorders would not be acceptable. That's why I was confused because pip didnt have a problem but apparantly shensaid the guidelines state that 2 separate recorders are not acceptable

Hi apple78

I am not aware of why there should be one rule for PIP and another for ESA, you may want to raise this with your local MP.

There may be other members on this forum that can shed some light in regards to recording equipment.

Quick update. I had my assesment on the Friday. It was with a Doctor who was really u understanding. Although I'm not going to stop worrying until I get my results. They did give me a copy of the recording so I was happy with that.
I really hope I dont have to wait too long:(
