ESA cut was created by Habibobs
I’ve had a letter from ESA stating that on the 10/4 they will be cutting my benefit because I have investments of £9.600. I have a Zurich pension which originally Allied Dunbar when I opted out off state pension. I have no other money coming in, only my benefits. Why am I penalised for having a pension? I haven’t reached retirement age yet. Your help would be wonderful, I have too write a letter asking for a review or something.

ESA treats pensions as income.

If you are receiving any Income Related ESA then the pension will be deducted £ for £.

For Contribution Based ESA, there is an £85/week disregard followed by a £1/week deduction for every £2 of pension in excess of the £85.

As a rough estimate, the deduction would be around £50 if you are only receiving ESA(CB).
