Based on your post, no, as you are only receiving Contribution Based ESA but you should check whether you are eligible for Income Related ESA, if you are then the Enhanced Disability Premium would be payable.

ESA(IR) is dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See

Asset and savings rule for ESA(IR)

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

You can put your information into one of the online calculators.

Thank you for your response, Gordon
I am on contribution-based ESA and in the Support Group. I rang DWP to claim Income Related ESA but was told that I can not claim it and should claim UC instead (dual claim). I am aware that I am entitled to UC but if I will apply for UC seems that I will be put forward straightaway for another medical assessment. Also, I would not be able to get Disability Premium if I would claim UC.
Please advise. Thank you

When did you make your claim for ESA?

If it is New Style ESA then the DWP advice is correct, you would not be paid any Premiums but he LCWRA rate (the UC equivalent of the SG) is higher than what you are currently receiving. There is no reason why you would be reassessed just because you have claimed UC, your exiting award should be transferred the only exception to this would be if your ESA is due to be reassessed.

If you are claiming what is now called legacy ESA, then the DWP advice is incorrect and you can have an Income Related ESA payment added to your existing ESA(CB) providing you are entitled to payment.

Correct...I just recently claimed a New Style ESA. But I also applied for PIP and will go to PIP assessment next week. Should I wait for PIP decision to be able to get disability premium on ESA? or fill in the UC application form (which is long and complicated) or there is another way to top up my current contribution-based ESA? Please advise.
Thank you

Hi Gordon
I have made my claim for ESA just recently, at the end of December 2019 so my ESA is not due for reassessment. As per the gov.uk website, " New Style’ ESA is a fortnightly payment (but I receive payments twice a month so I am not sure what I am getting New Style ESA or contribution-based)... also they say you can get ‘New Style’ ESA on its own or at the same time as Universal Credit."
I also applied for PIP and will be going to the PIP assessment next week. To be better financially should I wait for PIP decision to get a disability premium or claim UC to top up my ESA? I am not sure about LCWRA rates.
Please advise. Thank you
