I ‘won’ my PIP tribunal. Enhanced on both. My mental health difficulties were recognised which meant the mobility award was increased from standard to enhanced.

However it feels like a very hollow victory. At the moment I’m not actually that pleased. I was only there because the DWP didn’t read my medical evidence, lost some of my papers and went along with the blatant lies told by the assessor. If they’d read my Medical reports they would see that it didn’t add up.

Altogether 18 months of hell from the time I received my renewal pack, where at times it’s triggered my suicidal thoughts.

The Tribunal panel were so kind and professional, but even so it was a terrible ordeal to have to go through.

One thing I’d like to know and will hopefully give me some peace of mind. It’s likely most of my conditions won’t change and will deteriorate, so when renewal time comes round again, is it difficult for them to take this award away and will I have the same fight on my hands?

Hi MyHipsHurt

Congratulations on your enhanced award and winning your Tribunal. I think everyone who goes for a tribunal and wins wishes that the DWP and the assessment services had read paperwork more thoroughly.

I can't give you the reassurance that you want and never could because no one knows what will happen when awards are up for a review. Whenever it does come up for review make sure you include the current judgement.

Thank you.

Can I also ask, is there a report like the one you get at assessment explaining the reasons for their decision - if so how do I get a copy.

I noticed the judge was writing a lot of detailed notes and wonder what happens to these.

Hi MyHipsHurt

You can ring up the Tribunal Services and ask for the statement of reasons and you should get an accurate transcript of the whole proceedings.
